TfL x Budgy Smugglers collection reimagines Tube seats as swimwear

Transport for London (TfL) has delighted and surprised with the collaboration no one asked for.

Providing transport for a city notoriously far from the sea, TfL’s iconic seat patterns will be popping up across UK beaches this summer in this unexpected swimwear trend – and everyone’s here for it.

The new London Underground-themed swimwear collection comes from a partnership between TfL and the Australian swimwear brand Budgy Smugglers and features Speedo-style swim trunks adorned with signature moquette patterns from the Northern, District and Victoria lines.

Northern Line…

Victoria Line…

District Line…

The collection, facilitated by TfL’s global licensing agency IMG, is available for purchase on the Budgy Smugglers website and is the latest of many brand collabs producing moquette-themed accessories – but the first in the world of swimwear.

Adam Linforth, Budgy Smuggler’s Chief Smuggler, remarked “Coming across from the shores of Sydney, Australia, we first set up Budgy Smuggler UK back in 2016… We all get the Tube to work everyday, so we jumped at the chance to join the brands and create something special for the UK Summer that is both iconically Australian and also iconically British; the TfL x Budgy Smuggler Collection!”

The partnership has generated buzz on social media, with one user humorously noting, “I’m going to resist making a Cockfosters joke…”
