England’s Red Roses have designed and launched the world’s-first wearable report – drawing attention to rugby’s gender gap.
The collection which was designed by England full-back Ellie Kildunne, who founded her brand 5022 to support women in sport, uses data from the Women’s Sports Trust to highlight that visibility of women’s ruby still remains a hugely prevalent problem within the sport. The aim being to grow the sports fanbase and encourage greater attendance to games!
The five piece collection, modelled by players from the team, consists of graphic tees and a rugby jersey, with keys facts and stats from the report printed and embroidered onto them, as well as a QR code that takes you straight to an infographic containing further information.
The campaign comes off the back of research that found that although the team have won six straight Six Nations titles, 63% of rugby union fans are unable to name a single member of the squad.
‘I was approached by the RFU and O2, and they’d put a Women in Sports report together with Women’s Sports Trust, which is a nonprofit report, and they approached me as, a player, but also understood that I had 5022, as a brand, to have that creativity, to help market the game a slightly different way, and just to express that creativity through different avenues,’
