Kahlúa challenges Guinness for St Patrick’s Day

After last year’s success with Salma Hayek offering an alternative to mundane wine options, the Mexican coffee liqueur brand, Kahlúa, is ready to stir up some more trouble this St. Patrick’s Day.
Kahlúa argues that espresso martini’s should be the beverage of choice to celebrate St Patrick’s Day if you’re bored of drinking stout every year.
With a nod to tradition and a dash of cheekiness, their witty OOH ads challenges the status quo of a celebratory pint and shows that you can still take part in the festivities whilst sipping on something different – who says you can’t drink an espresso martini on Paddy’s Day!
Directed by Michael Lennox, known for his work on Derry Girls, and starring the beloved Irish TikTok duo Tadhg and Derry Fleming alongside stout connoisseur Ian Ryan, the campaign promises a refreshing take on celebrating the Irish spirit.
Kahlúa has also posted social content featuring Ryan, the Flemings, and former Irish Rugby player Rory Best, as they continue to shake things up in the lead up to St Patrick’s Day.
Philippa Beaumont and Freddy Taylor, creative directors at Wieden+Kennedy London, remarked “One minute we’re kicking down doors with a movie star; the next we’re coming for stout’s spotlight on St Patrick’s Day. Who knows where Kahlúa will take us next, but we’re excited to stir more things up.”
