Take a seat: Beavertown Brewery unveils stools to help Brits meet new people

In a bold move to foster social connections and break down conversational barriers, Beavertown Brewery has unveiled its latest campaign – just in time for the bank hol weekend!
Commissioned research reveals that while 54% of Brits want to meet new people, 35% don’t know how to start a conversation with strangers. To address this, Beavertown is placing bright blue, skull-clad stools in pubs across the country. These stools encourage pub-goers to ask, “Is this seat taken?” and introduce themselves to strangers, using a simple ‘cheers’ as an icebreaker.
Partnering with psychologist Katherine Templar Lewis, the campaign offers tips to help Brits break out of their social comfort zones (see the full list here!).
Katherine Templar Lewis said: “In an age where loneliness is on the rise, we must remember that humans are inherently social creatures. We’ve evolved to thrive in communities, and our bodies and minds benefit immensely from genuine social connections. By encouraging people to share a table, introduce themselves, and raise a glass together, we’re not just combating loneliness – we’re reviving the age-old tradition of the pub as a community hub.”
Tom Rainsford, Beavertown’s Marketing Director, says, “Approaching someone you don’t know can be nerve-wracking, but every relationship starts with a conversation.”
Chatting to fellow pub-goers over a Beavertown in the bank holiday sun? Cheers to that!
